Kay Irwin, Bagpiper has been playing bagpipes for weddings, receptions, funerals, Lincoln Memorial University, Tennessee Wesleyan College, and Maryville College graduations and other ceremonies, and many other special occasions in Knoxville, Maryville, Gatlinburg, Harrogate, Pigeon Forge, Townsend, Oak Ridge, Crossville, Cookeville, and throughout East Tennessee, Middle Tennessee, and the surrounding region since 1995. She successfully competes in Eastern United States Pipe Band Association (EUSPBA) sanctioned individual competitions and with the Knoxville Pipes and Drums. She has a large repertoire of traditional and modern bagpipe tunes, both Scottish and Irish, as well as familiar hymns for your selection. Recently she hosted the Baron of Drum, Chief of Clan Irwin, and the Lady of Drum during their visit to the Greater Greenville Scottish Festival and Highland Games where he served as Chief of the Games. A recognized piper, she lead the Baron and Lady of Drum, four other Scottish chiefs, and games dignitaries onto the field for the opening ceremonies as she has done at other games. Click on the link to the Greenville Games Photos 2007 for photos of the Baron and Lady of Drum, Kay, her family, and others who enjoyed the chief's visit and Greenville Games. A long-time member of the Scottish Society of Knoxville, Kay became a professional bagpiper following her career as a registered nurse and is free to travel for both day and evening events. She is usually available upon short notice, but advance booking is advised for weddings and other planned events. As can be seen below she wears appropriate seasonal Scottish attire for her performances. References are available upon request. Brides and mothers are invited to select tunes in advance by appointment.
